Summary

This paper speaks to the state of library makerspaces writ large, including the tools and activities found in these spaces and the motivations for creating makerspaces in libraries. The author includes specifics around makerspaces in academic libraries and elaborates on the reasons and connections for having such spaces in institutions of higher education. Included are a few profiles of college & university library makerspaces.
