COVID-19 Policy Update as of March 12th, 2020
In light of recent developments around the spread of COVID-19, we are monitoring local public health recommendations (from the California State Department of Public Health, Alameda County Public Health Department, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) about group gatherings and assessing the situation on a daily basis. At this time, we are cancelling public events in March (including maker educator meetups), postponing our planned April workshops, and moving cautiously forward with our scheduled Summer Institute.
We acknowledge that travel plans and airline restrictions are uncertain, and so we are temporarily modifying our cancellation policy to allow for full refunds for any registered participants who are not able to attend a scheduled event due to COVID-19 related issues. If you have been recommended to self-quarantine, have had recent contact with an ill person, or are feeling ill yourself, please do not come to the Studio — we are happy to return your full registration fee. Full refunds will also be given to registered participants if Maker Ed decides to cancel a scheduled workshop due to COVID-19. If you need to inquire about a refund, please get in touch with us by emailing info@makered.org.
Standard Cancellation Policy
The following Cancellation Policy applies when participants are not cancelling their attendance due to a COVID-19 related issue.
If you have already registered for one of our professional development workshops, and you are no longer able to attend the training, our cancellation policy is as follows:
- Full refund minus a $50 admin fee up to 30 days out of your scheduled training
- 50% refund after that up to two weeks out from the scheduled date
- No refund within two weeks of the training date
- An exception will be made for an unexpected illness, and a refund of 50% or a credit to attend an up-coming workshop can be issued
If you would like to cancel your ticket, please email events@makered.org with the subject line “Cancellation.”
Transferring Your Ticket
In lieu of a refund, you can also transfer your spot to someone else. We can transfer tickets up until the day before the event. For online workshops, if you transfer your ticket, you are responsible for ensuring that the physical supplies that were shipped to you are given to the person who is taking your ticket. Maker Ed will not be able to ship another set of materials out.
To do this, please email events@makered.org with the subject line “Ticket Transfer: [Name of Workshop].” Please write to us using the same email address that was provided at registration, and include the full name & email address of the person who you would like to transfer your ticket to. We’ll take it from there!
Maker Ed Cancellation
If there are fewer than eight people registered for the workshop two weeks out, the workshop will be cancelled and you will be issued a full refund for your registration. For this reason, if you plan on coming, register early!
