This Making Spaces Toolkit was created in 2016 for Regional Hubs to use in conjunction with their partner Sites to support the integration of making into schools and educational spaces. These resources are designed to assist in planning for, campaigning for, and implementing maker education in schools.
The original Toolkit was created by The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh in collaboration with Maker Ed, and is based on prior work with Kickstarter. Making Spaces has evolved over time, and some of these tools, such as the toolkit trajectory and fundraising campaign development tools, are no longer a core part of the program. However, we have kept them available online for anyone to use, adapt, and learn from!
The 2016 Making Spaces Toolkit is composed of three types of tools:
- Visioning & Goal Alignment Tools: These tools can be used to guide conversations between Hubs and partner schools before the campaign development process begins in order to create common understanding about the intentions, expectations, and funding goals for integrating making into the school environment
- Campaign Development Tools: These tools can be used to guide the crowdfunding campaign development process for schools
- Program Planning & Promotional Tools: These tools can be used for reference and to help structure expectation and communications about the project and partnership (available soon)
