On February 17-18, 2016, Maker Ed will host the Maker Portfolio Workshop at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation headquarters in Palo Alto, CA.

This 2-day hands-on workshop will provide educators and practitioners the opportunity to practice techniques for capturing learning through portfolios and to bring lessons learned back to their educational settings. Held in conjunction with the Open Portfolio Project‘s National Working Group meeting, the event will also provide the opportunity for practitioners and researchers to gather together to bridge the gap between disciplines, and share needs and resources.

The Maker Portfolio Workshop is geared toward practitioners in both formal and informal learning environments, though administrators interested in gaining hands-on experience with portfolios are also welcome. Participants must apply and be accepted to attend.

The application period has closed. To receive updates about future Maker Ed workshops and other opportunities, join Maker Ed’s mailing list.

Event Details

The workshop will take place from 9am to 5pm on Wed, Feb 17 and from 9am to 5pm on Thurs, Feb 18. On Thurs, Feb 18 during lunch and after 2pm, additional optional activities and opportunities for informal discussions with our National Working Group members will be available.

Topics covered during the workshop include, but are not limited to, facilitation practices and prompts, integration, platforms and tools, examples of youth portfolios, and assessment. Stay tuned for the agenda in upcoming weeks!

In conjunction with the Maker Portfolio Workshop, we will be designing and writing a practitioner-facing guide. A draft of the guide will be distributed and utilized during the workshop itself, and we welcome your thoughts and feedback throughout!
