About Museum Lab

Museum Lab is a new museum for older kids created by Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh in the former Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny next door (opening April 27, 2019). Kids 10+ can have cutting-edge experiences in art, tech and learning, perfect for their inquiring minds and increasing skills. Visitors may work on a large-scale mosaic, shape wood on a lathe, step into a virtual world, and explore funky art installations. Or get lost climbing, sliding and hanging out in a three-story artwork created out of woven rope by artist Manca Ahlin in the framework of the former library’s steel bookshelves. An incredible list of partners are involved in Museum Lab. This neighborhood, with Museum Lab, the Children’s Museum, Buhl Community Park and associated partners, is now the largest cultural campus for children in the country.
