Travel Details

Hotel: We recommend Convening attendees look into the following hotels as they are conveniently located, and near public transportation:

  1. Marriott Courtyard Oakland Downtown
  2. The Washington Inn (Oakland)
  3. Hyatt Regency (San Francisco)

Transportation:

  • Public Transportation (highly recommended): The Crucible is located just one block from the West Oakland BART station.
  • Other Options: The Crucible’s staff highly discourages walking to The Crucible from nearby hotels. Parking near the space is limited, and car break-ins do occur in the neighborhood, so please make an effort to take public transportation. Their staff also notes that a Lyft or Uber from downtown Oakland typically runs around $5.00.

Dress Code: The Crucible is an industrial art space, so be prepared for a bit of dirt and dust, and come wearing closed-toed shoes. We also recommend you bring layers, as the temperature in the space tends to change.
