North Logan City Library & Maker Corps 2015

What do you get when you mix the amazing Maker Corps program with North Logan Library awesomeness? We don’t know yet but it will blow your mind… Literally brains everywhere is not out of the realm of possibility. So wear your helmets and get ready to make awesome!

Our Library is ridiculously excited to be a Maker Corps Host Site for 2015! We’re located in the beautiful Cache Valley in Northern Utah, right at the base of the Wasatch Mountains. The actual building may be small, but its overflowing with programs and people – they line up before we even open, just to get in!

Our most popular program, by a waterslide, is the Summer Reading Kick-Off Party! The lawn is packed with kids, teens and adults, riding the rides, playing in the water, eating the food and winning ginormous prizes! Just last year some very lucky people won a PS4, a Kindle Fire, and a boat rental at Bear Lake!

And the fun doesn’t stop there! We’ve been visited by snakes and lizards (no one got eaten, although some hats were whacked off heads!); monster trucks, a sure attraction for the little monsters; even Frozen’s Elsa stopped by for some icy summer fun. During the hottest month of the year, July of course, Zombies attacked our lovely library! Luckily, we had prepared our teens well and they were able to fight off the oncoming horde with their Nerf gun and movie makeup skills.

The best part of our library is the MakerSpace! It’s got Photoshop to fix up some Zombie Hunter ID cards or to create a stunning digital masterpiece. We’ve got video/film making programs to help the budding film producer find his start, in fact our YouTube channel is filled with videos made by using the user-friendly programs in our MakerSpace!

With the help of Maker Corps we’re going to expand our already awesome MakerSpace into an abso-frickin’-lutely, fantabulous place! 3D printers to turn that drawing into a sculpture or to make a mold for the next-generation of robots. Microscopes to explore the tiny world around us or to make minute adjustments to your sleep-ray! The sky may seem like the limit, but really, there is NO limit to what you can make in our space!
