In Brief – The Maker VISTA Project tackles poverty by propagating maker education into high-poverty communities across the US by providing capacity-building services to our partners. Our partners, subsites, host a Maker VISTA member who builds infrastructure, expands partnerships, secures resources, organizes maker education training, and links communities to the maker movement.

Check out the professional development being held by The Exploratory, Maker Guilds in Culver City, CA for Chandler School, where they presented on the importance of the T.M.I challenge – tinker.maker.innovate!
For Orange County, the OC STEM Initiative announced the district members selected for their first cohort of dedicated county STEM Leaders as part of their Learning Ecosystem Institute. Collectively, they will focus on building expanded learning, early childhood education, informal learning partners and more.
Although it is only March, many of our sites are already starting to build momentum for Summer camps in 2015.
For Assemble in Pittsburgh, PA explore their themes for STEAM camps. Themes range from Superheroes to Urban Eco Explorers, all for makers ages 6-13.
MIA Made of Miami, FL is hosting Wynwood Maker Camp. By the end of the two-week camp, youth will learn to be innovative thinkers through exposure to cutting-edge technology in a way that is comprehensible and applicable.
