Lighthouse Community Charter School

Lighthouse Community Charter School

Housed in the Lighthouse Community Charter School in Oakland, CA, the Creativity Lab’s program is dedicated to inspiring K-12 students to become designers and makers through making activities, and helping other educators outside of their school integrate making into their entire school program.

Maker VISTA members at the Creativity Lab have been assisting with the development and facilitation of regularly scheduled professional development opportunities for educators. These PD opportunities train local educators on how to plan a K-12 making project or unit of their choice, and they leave with a project example that can be integrated into their own classrooms.

  • Lighthouse professional development
Educators work together to brainstorm maker project ideas that can be integrated into their classrooms.
  • Lighthouse professional development
Lighthouse Creativity Labs' professional development sessions help educators realize that making has the potential to empower and motivate youth to become more engaged in learning while inspiring creativity and the spirit of collaboration.
