SUMMARY:Maker Educator Convening
DESCRIPTION:In 2020\, the 6th annual Maker Educator Convening will be virtual\, to be held on Friday and Saturday\, Oct 2 and 3\, 2020. \nContinuing the commitment to our values and the hard work we must do as a field\, we’re thrilled to announce that this year’s theme is Making It Happen: Equity and Joy. \nWe expect to have approximately 3 hours of live content each day\, including a keynote and a rich variety of sessions to choose from. The schedule and sessions will be released by the end of the summer. Stay tuned for more details! \nOur proposal process is open! Apply now to join us as a presenter at this year’s Convening. Share your voices\, practices\, ideas\, and work! \nWe recognize that a virtual convening will not be the same experience as an in-person one\, and we’re excited to thoughtfully design and plan an event that shares the field’s knowledge\, enables inspiration and provocation\, and supports the community to grow together. \nAt our 2019 Convening in Pittsburgh\, PA at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh\, we shared a glorious two days with our community of 241 attendees from 31 states and 3 countries. Our friends\, partners\, and colleagues shared numerous insights during and after the event\, and we can’t wait for what happens in 2020!  \nTestimonials\n“I imagine maker education shifting the way educators teach\, creating opportunities to reach every learner by applying constructivist practices and providing time and tools to develop skills and mindsets”  \n«··············» \n“I walked away with so many ideas and just feeling reenergized to do good work. It is easy to get burnt out in our field\, and sometimes you need something like this to relight the fire and passion.” \n«··············» \n“Sometimes it’s hard to mentally leave a lane of educational pedagogy you’ve believed in for a long time and look into others but I felt here I could value the new and the old\, so to speak.”  \n«··············» \n“There are so many ways to create\, make\, explore curiosity that the possibilities are endless. Also\, great questions were asked about who has access and what should be labeled as ‘making’.” \n«··············» \nImportant Dates\nRequest for proposals (RFP) opens June 22\, 2020 \nRFP closes July 31\, 2020 \nPresenters will be notified in mid-August 2020 \nRegistration opens August 3\, 2020

SUMMARY:Assessment for Good: Ethical\, Equitable\, and Justice-oriented Assessment Registration
DESCRIPTION:Educating for Good is pleased to announce its premiere virtual conference\, August 10-12\, 2020. The conference looks at foundational issues around assessment\, equity\, justice and ethics — particularly those raised by the lock down. Our circle conversations will have implications for assessment in the long term\, and also\, more importantly\, for the school year that is coming right at us. In support of “at any distance” learning\, we will model virtual facilitation of learning circles\, provide thought partnership around assessment system development\, and processes for the development competency based assessments. We will highlight thought leaders and practitioners in the work\, and lift up resources and colleagues who are educating for good. Most importantly\, we will provide a space for participants to learn from each other\, share their concerns and questions\, and untangle the most pressing dilemma of the pandemic: how to do the right thing for our kids. \nRegistrants can attend all circles\, one circle\, or one strand of circles. Circles are interactive and will include break out spaces. There is no fee for registration.
