Be a Presenter at the Maker Educator Convening

The Maker Educator Convening is an annual gathering of maker educators hosted October 19–20 in the Bay Area of California by Maker Ed staff. This year’s event is at The Tech Museum in lovely San Jose, CA!

We are on the hunt for exciting, inspiring ideas that will represent best practices and lessons learned from maker educators. This is the first time in the event’s 4-year history we have opened up applications for proposals, and we are excited to see what you come up with!

You can submit a proposal on your own, or collaborate with a group of colleagues. We are looking for proposals that fit one of 3 session types:

  1. Presentation: Single or multiple presenters/partners/perspectives. 1 hour
  2. Hands-on Workshop: Make making come to life! 1 hour
  3. Ignite Talk: 20 slides, inspiring and to the point. 5 minutes

We strongly encourage proposals from a range of backgrounds and perspectives. Specifically, we are looking to increase representation of youth, PoC, and women as presenters at the Convening. Proposals that elevate and center the lived experience and stories of these communities will be given preference during the review process.

Read our full guidelines and criteria for selecting proposals here.

The deadline for submitting proposals is April 29th. All applications will be reviewed and you will be notified by Friday, May 11th if your proposal is accepted. Convening presenters will also receive discounted ticket rates.

If you have any questions, or would like support in crafting your session description please reach out and ask! These queries can be directed to: events@makered.org
