Maker Ed is a national non-profit organization that provides educators and institutions with the training, resources, and community of support they need to create engaging, inclusive, and motivating learning experiences through maker education.
Every Child a Maker: We envision every young person having equitable access to engaging learning experiences that collectively develop their skills, knowledge, and ways of thinking, and that recognize and value their ability to experience and influence their world.
Maker Ed provides educators and institutions with the training, resources, and community of support they need to create engaging, inclusive, and motivating learning experiences through maker-centered education. We work to make it possible for every educator in America—particularly those in underserved communities—to facilitate interactive, student-driven, and open-ended learning experiences for youth.
- Access and Equity: We believe in understanding, valuing, and responding to the knowledge, skills, and needs of others, and providing opportunities for all to participate.
- Community: We value teamwork and collaboration, building relationships and connecting with others, and supporting one another to achieve common goals.
- Empowerment: We ensure that people have the resources and support they need to voice and act on their unique thoughts, choices, and ideas.
- Learning to Learn: We feel there needs to be more focus on the process of learning, recognizing a diversity of approaches, while still honoring the importance of certain outcomes.
